Boris Johnson is an abject coward.

Our Prime Minister, the swashbuckling King of Global Britain and someone who’s wasted so much of our time banging on about our soft power on the world stage and going our own way; has essentially prostituted himself at the alter of the United States and its despotic President.

When asked about the claims made by Trump on voter fraud and the clear attempt to subvert democracy by calling the election and claiming victory potentially days before the results become clear, Johnson essentially said we don’t comment.

Starmer did the right thing and grilled Johnson on this at PMQs, to no avail. The state of affairs is really dire, after all, why would we expect our truth twisters to do anything but silently admire (as Johnson does Trump) America’s alpha truth twister?

The British and American governments are run at the top by two of the most uniquely unqualified and openly corrupt individuals to darken their doors, all because a failed political class left huge swathes of their respective countries feeling (rightfully) disenfranchised, abandoned, undervalued, and forgotten.

The neoliberal elites practically threw British and American voters into the arms of Johnsonism and Trumpism, and their takes on National Conservatism, a bizarre amalgamation of hyper nationalism with ethnic undertones, and a veneer of “respectable” conservatism, wrapped in lies, bullying, corruption, a phoney version populist economic and trade policy, and surface deep anti-globalism, all while still serving the wealthy through the backdoor.

In short, a type of politics that looks inward and scapegoats. A type of politics complacent wealthy centrists are fully complicit in the creation of. And it looks set to rage on here and abroad for the foreseeable future.
