Republicans are still courting Trump.

Well, so much for all that. As we speak, Republicans are still courting ex-President Trump’s favours, support, and approval. If you thought Trump’s brand of politics was going anywhere, think again; it’s about to get a whole lot angrier, and yet further detached from reality.

Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, and the likely next Speaker, is actively courting Trump’s support and advice for winning the House in the incoming 2022 midterms. Mitch McConnell may be on borrowed time, since he’s refused to play along, and presumably it’s only a matter of time until he either kisses the Trumpist hand, or is ousted by his colleges.

If you thought this deranged movement was bad while it was in control of the executive, wait until you see the stuff it’ll pull while totally in opposition, left in the wilderness. We’re going to see a rise in far right violence, spurred on by the words and actions of elected officials in congress opening sympathising with things like QANON and movements like the Proud Boys.

The only answer remains to smash these people in elections, and keep smashing them. Unfortunately, the Democratic establishment is hardly suitable to smash this lot, and may yet hand back national power to them through their own uselessness and self serving nature once again shooting them in the foot when they have golden opportunity with united control of the US government.

We need to see a movement in 2022, a movement against the Democratic establishment, but a movement on their ballot line. An insurgency that works to seize the agenda from Democrats and challenging voters frustrations, all while showing the GOP’s fake populism for what it is, fraudulent.

A leftwing equivalent of the Tea Party, with clear leaders and a Presidential contender for 2024. The left must save the Democrats from themselves, and take the fight to the GOP.
