When the electoral college votes for Biden, Trump will fight on.

By all indication this isn’t over.

On my show, MesmePolitics, the other day, I proposed that there were two options for what Team Trump will do upon the electoral college voting for Joe Biden as the 46th President. A: they accept, not really conceding but *nudge nudge wink wink* acknowledging it’s over, while announcing Trump’s 2024 bid. Or B: fighting on, and attempting a coup when the results come to congress and Vice President Pence has to preside over the proceedings in the speaker’s chair.

One of those, while bad, was the less damaging option; of course that means we seem headed for the other. That’s right, the electoral college is set to vote and GOP hardliners remain intent on derailing this once it comes to congress. Of course, some Democrats protested in 2016 in a similar way, but not even remotely on the same scale, or indeed with the sanction of the loosing nominee, who promptly conceded the morning after polling day.

So, Trump will continue breaking things and doing incalculable damage to what remains of the smouldering tatters that are American democracy. Never, ever, again, let the US grandstand about fair elections or election interference; they’re a tin pot banana oligarchy that is a pretty good example to smaller nations of what NOT TO DO; whatever you do, don’t emulate the USA.

Make America Great Again was always the dying cry of a white America, facilitated by delusional conservative elites. The GOP martialled and wielded the forces of white supremacy and authoritarian conservatism to maintain power; but their time of reckoning will come. They may get away with this now, but sooner or later, the country they don’t recognise will punish them for their crimes.
